Tips for Homemade Macaroon Recipe
- Since macarons are delicate due to their dough, excessive changes in the amount of ingredients will affect the dough and the cooking of the dough. Pay close attention to your measurements and take notes if possible. The best macaron makers tell us that they have not been able to get it right many times, but have finally found the right consistency.
- Using a variety of food coloring or mixing different flavors can also produce unexpected results. That's why it's best to use a single color and flavor for your first try. That's why we gave you a colorless and vanilla recipe this time. As you experiment, you can decide which flavors go well together.
- While mixing the dough and squeezing it from the piping bag onto the tray, air bubbles often form. That's why it's a good idea to tap the tray on the counter a few times after squeezing the dough onto the tray, so the bubbles pop. If they don't pop, you can pop the bubbles yourself with a toothpick without messing up the dough too much.
- Egg whites that are left to sit will become moist. The dough you make with moist eggs will be more consistent and the cookies will be more solid. For this reason, you can keep the egg whites in the refrigerator for 24 hours, or even up to two days if you wish.
What other ingredients are added to the Homemade Vanilla Macaroon recipe?
- If you notice, we usually recommend alternative sweeteners instead of processed sugar in our recipes, but we didn't do that in this recipe firsthand because what makes a macaron a macaron is also a little sugar. More precisely, the sugar content is the most important part of the ingredients in order to get the consistency and texture right. However, we still researched foreign sources for you and tried to give you the macaron recipe that we liked the most, for this reason we saw that alternatives such as "coconut sugar" can be used instead of granulated sugar, "evaporated cane sugar" and "stevia powder" can be used instead of powdered sugar, but here it is up to you to test the consistency with the trial and error method.
- You can also add 10 grams of organic raw cacao to the first mixture you prepared. This way, you will have brown cookies without using food coloring.
- You can also spread hazelnut paste between two macaroons.
- You can also color your cookies by making natural food coloring at home and using the coloring carefully. If you are going to color them, know that using a little bit of coloring is enough to color the macarons beautifully.
